DHCare (Formerly Invacare) Orca Bathlifter
The Orca is a lightweight, battery-powered bath lift designed to help users get in and out of the bath safely and comfortably. It lowers the user gently into the water and raises them back up at the touch of a button, so bathing can stay part of everyday life without the strain.
Orca Bathlifter Specifications
The Orca has an overall length of 92cm (36.2″) in its lowest position and 65cm (25.6″) in its highest, with an overall height of 107.5cm (42.3″) at the highest position. The base plate is 29.5cm (11.6″) wide, so it fits most standard baths.
The seat measures 59cm (23.2″) in length, with a width of 71.5cm (28.1″) with the side flaps folded out and 42cm (16.5″) with them folded in. The seat height ranges from just 6cm (2.4″) at its lowest to 42cm (16.5″) at its highest, and the backrest is 36cm (14.2″) wide.
It supports a maximum user weight of 140kg (22 stone) and is powered by a 14V Lithium-Ion battery, which recharges in approximately 4 hours from the low-voltage warning. The total weight is 12.1kg without the hand control.
Comfort and Seating System
The fold-out side flaps provide a wider seat for easier, safer transfers from the side of the bath, then fold in for a comfortable bathing position. The low 6cm seat height lets the user sit deep in the water for a full, relaxing bath.
Performance and Handling
The Orca separates into two lightweight parts, a 7.5kg seat and a 4.6kg backrest, so it is easy to lift in and out of the bath, store or take away when travelling. Its quiet operation (52dB) and light-touch hand control buttons make it easy to use for users with reduced hand strength.
Safety and Practical Features
The drive is rated IP66 and the hand control IP67 for full protection against water in the bathroom, and a low-voltage warning signals when the battery needs charging. The Lithium-Ion battery is lightweight and charges via a compact mains charger.
